Creating My First Video for TikTok & Facebook Reels: A Mythic Experiment in Motion

There’s a moment in every creative project where the work stops being an idea on a page and becomes something that moves, breathes, and glows. For me, that moment arrived this week when I created my first short‑form video for TikTok and Facebook Reels — a visual teaser for Muse, Book Two of The Delta Witch Chronicles.
I’ve spent years writing stories filled with ritual, shadow, and mythic atmosphere. But translating that feeling into a ten‑second video? That was a new kind of magic.
Why I Decided to Step Into Video
Short‑form video has become one of the most powerful ways for authors to reach readers. TikTok and Facebook Reels aren’t just platforms — they’re discovery engines. They reward mood, emotion, and aesthetic storytelling, which is exactly where Muse lives.
I didn’t want to appear on camera.I didn’t want to talk at the lens.I wanted the world of the book to speak for itself.
So I turned to AI‑driven visuals and cinematic editing to bring that world to life.
Building the Visuals: From Candlelight to Sigils
The first clip I created opens with a single candle flame — a spark in the dark. The camera slowly drifts toward an ancient stone well, the kind that feels older than the land around it. Two glowing orbs drift in from opposite sides of the frame, meeting in the centre like converging spells.
When they collide, the title appears:
Ken Mann — The Delta Witch Chronicles — Book 2
Then the magic deepens.Three sigils sweep across the screen.Blue flames lick the rim of the well.Fireflies drift through the air.Mist curls upward from the bottom of the frame.
For the final seconds, the image holds steady — a quiet, enchanted moment suspended in time.
It felt like watching the book breathe.
Learning CapCut: Turning Silent Footage Into Story
The visuals were only half the journey.Next came sound — the heartbeat of any cinematic moment.
I downloaded CapCut, opened a new project, and began layering:
dark ambient music to set the tone
soft wind to match the drifting mist
a low rumble beneath the well
whooshes for the orbs and sigils
a deep bass hit when the title appears
fire crackles for the blue flames
Piece by piece, the silent clip transformed into something alive.Something mythic.Something that felt like Muse.
I added a simple CTA at the end — Available at kenmann.net and Amazon — and exported the final version.
Ten seconds. But ten seconds that carry the weight of a world.
What I Learned Creating My First TikTok & Reels Video
Here are the biggest takeaways from the process:
1. Short videos can still feel cinematic
You don’t need 30 seconds to create atmosphere. You need intention.
2. Sound design matters more than you think
A single bass hit or whisper of wind can change the entire emotional tone.
3. CapCut is surprisingly powerful
It’s intuitive, flexible, and perfect for authors who want to create without appearing on camera.
4. TikTok rewards mood
Not talking heads.Not sales pitches.Mood.
5. This is just the beginning
I created four clips in total — each with its own atmosphere, its own magic, its own place in the Muse universe.
What’s Next
I’ll be releasing each clip across TikTok, Facebook Reels, Instagram, and YouTube Shorts as part of the Muse launch sequence. Each one reveals a different facet of the world — the well, the sigils, the stormlight, the ritual.
And once all four are out, I’ll be combining them into a full cinematic trailer for my website.
This is a new chapter not just for Muse, but for how I share stories with readers.A blend of myth, technology, and imagination.
And honestly?I’m enjoying the hell out of it.
